Tips to Keep Your Hair Healthy During Summer

With Summer coming soon, now is a good time to think about your hair.

Your hair is a valuable asset. Considering the time and money you spend to have healthy hair, not to mention its contribution to your looks, it is well worth all the protection you can give it against the punishment of Summer.

Heat and radiation from the sun; wind, sand and salt at the seashore, and chlorinated water at the pool all add up to potential hair disaster.

As a hair specialist for many years, I can tell you what a shame it is to see people spend a lot of money “fixing” problems which could have been avoided.

Try some of these preventative tips:

Deep Conditioning – If you spend a lot of time getting in and out of the pool during the summer your hair can become dry, dull and brittle. Be sure to deep condition your hair at least once a week.

Leave In Conditioner while Swimming – If you spend a lot of time in the pool, try spraying on some conditioner under your swim cap. It will protect your hair against damaging chlorine and salt water.

Skip Blow-Drying – Skip blowdrying and the use of hot rollers and curling irons whenever possible. When it’s a must, always use heat-activated styling products, particularly at the ends, to guard against drying.

A investment in good hair protection products BEFORE the onslaught of our favorite season will not only benefit your hair, the freedom from worry will allow you to enjoy Summer even more.
